FrameCycler at Lockheed Martin: Journey to the Sun

Tom Berger, a solar physicist, has used FrameCycler extensively to view assembled frame sequences of the surface of the sun in real time.

“We are studying granulation, or convection cells, on the sun. Single images simply don’t show what we’re looking for. When you’re looking at a process, a movie is better than pictures or words. I imagine a lot more scientists will see the value of flexible tools like this."

“FrameCycler is ideal for this type of research because few scientists have the time to render out frames, never mind learning how to use the software to do that.”

Tom Berger is Staff Physicist at the Palo Alto Advanced Technology Centre, a research branch of Lockheed Martin.
