IRIDAS: So In Color have been very successful
for you?
Stephane: That's right. Including color services allows us to
offer a complete postproduction solution for our clients. With these
television programs, for example, the pipeline is more efficient for us,
and more cost-effective for the client. In Color has been a great
success. We're in the process of setting up a second suite with
SpeedGrade now.
IRIDAS: Why did you choose SpeedGrade for your color services?
Stephane: We felt that this was a product which democratized
color grading: it was simple, powerful, and very flexible. We saw that
IRIDAS understood what we were doing and we like the level of personal
attention we get from them. Since we wanted to use SpeedGrade in
real-world production, we wanted to be sure that IRIDAS would be there
when we needed them!
IRIDAS: What do you like about SpeedGrade?
Stephane: We believe in the approach. SpeedGrade fits in with
where we see the industry going.
Software solutions for postproduction are so much more flexible.
Computer hardware gets more powerful each year so it is easy and cost
effective to upgrade - without having to buy a whole new system. We
looked at the other software-based color grading applications, but SpeedGrade is the strongest product and offered the most flexibility.
IRIDAS: What do you see in the future for In Extenso?
Stephane: We are growing - and color is part of the reason.
Currently we occupy two floors in our building: one for editing, color,
and storage. The other floor is where we do all our sound work. We're
adding a third floor to house a new graphics and VFX department - and
our expanded In Color division.
The film market in Quebec is not big, but it is very strong. Smaller
production budgets don't have to mean lower quality. We have proven that.
In Extenso will continue grow, but our first goal is not the size of the
facility; our first goal is to deliver quality in an innovative way that
is second to none: and IRIDAS is a big part of that plan! |
