While work proceeded on solving these problems, the artists began the
process of creating a script and storyboards. "The cinematics were
originally planned for three screens but then someone figured out that
you could actually fit seven screens across the wall behind the stage,"
recalls Derek. "So the dimensions were more than doubled! The problem
was, it wasn't yet clear how we were going to do this on three screens,
never mind seven!"

Once the storyboards were done, the supervisors could lay out the shots
and the workflow. Threshold Digital then created a basic animatics
sequence combining some storyboard graphics with single 3D models. It
was a little rough, but it was good enough for production rehearsals
which had already started by this time.
"One of the things which the Crystal Cathedral wanted to achieve with
this production was a merging of scientific and religious perspectives,"
says Derek. "So, along with client reviews, we went over our shots with
various experts to ensure that our imagery was scientifically accurate.
It was very educational!"
