As postproduction work went on, SpeedGrade's XML
files - complete timelines with grades,
dissolves, composites, etc. - were sent back to
Thomas Harbers at their German facility in Munich for in-house
review and quality control before film
recording.
Dong mau anh hung ("The Rebel"), starring
Johnny Tri Nguyen (as Cuong), Ngo Thanh Van (as
Thuy) and Dustin Nguyen, was selected as one of
the 12 finalists (from more than 150 entries) at
the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival
2007. The Rebel will have its international
premiere at the Bangkok International Film
Festival on July 21, 2007.

What They
sent to Munich
Rather than altering the original files,
SpeedGrade DI uses non-destructive technologies
to create timelines including grading,
dissolves, masks, and even composites. All of
this information is saved as XML metadata which
can be applied to the same (locally stored) data
at other facilities. Thus review and approval
work could be conducted in parallel at two
different locations.
