How did IRIDAS help?
This began as a dream for me and it’s companies like IRIDAS that
made it possible for it to come together. I can’t say enough about
Steve [Crouch, Director of IRIDAS USA].
At one point I’d lined up an engineer to help me with something but
he didn’t show up for our appointment. So I called Steve on the spur
of the moment and he spent four hours on the phone with me walking
me through the set-up and operation of the software.
What applications are you using?
We’re using
FrameCycler VenueSystem to play the frames and
SpeedGrade for color correction. I am a perfectionist when it
comes to color and image. I worked hard to keep it all in HD.
Everything went through a DI process – this never touched a tape.
I did a shoot-out using the same sequence and projector to compare
uncompressed frames, using FrameCycler VenueSystem, and state-of-the
art encoding of the same data. As the size of the projected image
grew, it was clear that uncompressed HD was meatier, had more
texture, more detail. The image had more life to it. The point is
that the IRIDAS approach allows me to hold onto my data.
